Posted: 17 AprilWant to go to the range but have no money for ammo or range fees because you spent it all on a VR setup? Then this is the game for you! Seems overly simple at first, but there are quite a few game modes that unlock over time as you progress, buy new guns and upgrades, and score well in various ranges. The most impressive thing about this game is how realistically the guns are modeled and function. After getting a feel for the basic VR controls, I started picking up guns I had shot in real life and doing what I would normally do handling them and it just worked!

(with a few minor exceptions: i.e. Having to hit the bolt release on the AR with a closed fist rather than an open palm like I would normally do)I see a log of people criticizing this game for not being H3VR, but it's clearly not trying to be. H3VR is filled with unrealistic, ridiculous shenanigans. If that's what you're looking for then get that instead, but if you're looking for a realistic gun range simulator then this game is where it's at. It's like having unlimited access to high-end, interactive gun ranges and free ammo. As a gun enthusiast in real life, this is one of my favorite VR experiences.(I have a lot more hours in this game than steam is showing, because I first played it on Viveport Infinity).

Hello, I am an experienced shooter and a firearms safety instructor in real life and I just started playing Gun Club VR. While it's definitely cool, I really don't like the reload dynamic. I appreciate that the developers tried to make it more realistic by putting it in there, but here's my problem with it; in order to make the reload mechanism work, you need to be holding the left controller, which means that you can't use your left hand as your support hand and grip the 'gun' like you'd be doing when firing a real gun. I feel like the reload mechanism ads some realism to a trivial part of shooting (the reload) while severely handicapping the part of shooting that actually matters and is fun (the, uh.

Actual shooting). I'd like a way to turn this off and just reload the gun by hitting a button on the right controller. I'd absolutely sacrifice a bit of realism during reloading to have a MUCH better gameplay experience. I've attempted to mitigate the issue by just hanging the left controller by the wrist strap while shooting then grabbing it when I need to reload, but it really takes you out of the experience.

I think about reloading pretty much zero percent of the time when I'm actually shooting. It's just an automatic response that you don't think about once you get used to it, like shifting a manual car.

If compromises need to be made, they should be made in a way that doesn't take away from your ability to shoot like you do in real life. Hey guys,We've discussed this a few times over the course of development and each time we've ultimately decided that that a flat 'Press a button to Auto-Reload' option is not something we want in Gun Club VR. Infinite ammo would make it a lot easier to use a physical stock, too. It's a pain getting controllers in and out of sockets, etc.

They add so much to the game that I would gladly give up the additional realism of the current style. I think it's a fair trade-off and would be a reasonable decision left to the user. A delay would be built into the automated reload, of course, in the same way iRacing penalizes racers that use auto-clutch or auto-shift. It might even be possible to have that delay calulated of the basis of having the user manually reload 5 or 10 times to set a reasonably accurate delay.

Originally posted by:Realistic (two hand) reload require attention and skills - which is important for progressing trough the game. Just shooting infinite ammo is fairly boring. If you need more ammo - earn some money and get oversized mag.

May be it will make sense to have 'infinite ammo' mag in upgrade shop, so people can buy it.This is absolutely NOT the point of the whole conversation. It is not about being boring or proper progress in the game. It is about properly and realistically HOLDING a hand gun while shooting, like you would in REAL life. This is for those that would like to improve their target accuracy and transfer that practice to live ammo, real gun. OP is asking for additional option I would think mainly in the practice area, but perhaps with main game as well, where you can test yourself more realistically. Replacing mag in that situation could also be handled by just lowering the gun and waiting certain amount of time for auto-reload.

I don't care how you guys decide to change it, but the worst part of for me is that I never want to use 2-handed guns because taking my left hand off the under-barrel, reloading the gun, then having to squeeze to re-grip the underbarrel (usually resulting in the gun jerking around), is just awful. I've pretty much only been playing with pistols because that's the only part of the game that feels good.I'll say this regarding all VR games - the squeeze function on the Vive controllers is not easy or intuitive to use on such a constant basis. It's fine for functions here and there, but something as ubiquitous as 'grab the gun' can't be assigned to that squeeze. Maybe just make it a trigger pull instead, I don't know.

While I dislike the idea for 'press button to reload', I understand fully the requirement for that 'lower tier' feature.Just like the Original Poster wrote, you can get a better pistol grip with the two hands for two controllers. That can't be denied it is one of the annoying things. But, you can support hand still correctly like with a tactical flashlight, resting it above a wrist if so wanted. But, where I totally see the huge benefit and boost to usability, is when a player has a real physical gun stock for better gun handling. Though I am a shooter myself, I like manipulating the weapons more than actually shooting them - that's not an experience you get in traditional games. In most VR shooters, I rest my shooting hand on the forearm of my other hand for stability.

It's not as comfortable as shooting two-handed, but at least I have some stability and I can also hold a full mag in my other hand for quick reload.I think a 'one controller' mode would be great, though. For those that want to shoot two-handed, and for shooting with a stock, etc.Arizona Sunshine has an intuitive one-handed reload, but we can add an extra step. Eject mag, move weapon to ammo belt to refill, then press the bolt release to charge the weapon. I agree on the balance, though, so maybe a score penalty or a separate leaderboard for this mode.
